IE and outlook express problem

right when i use either internet explorer or outlook express it lockups the program when i click on a link in an email or on a website to bring up another window.

how can i sort this , as using mozilla firebird atm but need ie to use some site like windows update ?

Good to see another Firebird user Sounds like a strange problem, if you were willing you could always switch to Mozilla Thunderbird for e-mail (that would complement Firebird quite nicely), failing that have you tried using your Internet Options (control panel) and resetting to defaults?

yeah i've reinstalled it and set it to default but it dont work. i like mozilla but it dont work on some websites

try running:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

where can i find that file in xp professional ?

just open a command prompt
type regsvr32 urlmon.dll
press enter

try the following too:
regsvr32 url.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll.dll
regsvr32 shlwapi.dll

You can do these one after the other. I'd then advise a reboot.
