    Steam Streaming

    Post your experiences here.

Last night I tried streaming from my main PC to a low end one in the living room. Main PC was hooked up to network via a powerline adapter. I was getting about 55mbps. Living room PC had a gigabit ethernet cable to a gigabit switch. Results were unplayable.
I dug out a long 100mbit ethernet cable and wired that up to the upstairs PC. Results were better but still unplayable.

My conclusion is that this needs a gigbit ethernet connection to work but I'd be interested in hearing other people's results.

I don't think that the bandwidth is the primary concern, i'd imagine the packet loss and ping is of far more importance.
