    Blurry Screen

I'm using a laptop with an XGA TFT screen (I think)
and i'm getting unplayable levels of blur while playing PES3

Strange thing is I don't get this blurry screen when playing any other game to the extent of when playing PES3.

I upped the screen refresh rate to every level up from 60Hz to no effect...

screen refresh is irrelevant on TFTs. I think it's just something you jsut have to live with. The other games probably aren't updating so much of the screen so fast or something

I think the term people use is "Ghost"?! but surely there must be some cure....

How many fps is PES 3 running at?
On a TFT the lower the in game fps the nastier the ghosting.

Of course you always get some form of ghosting but with lower frame updates it looks much worse.

On the other hand maybe you usually dont play really fast moving games?

I get 60Fps apart from the odd drop here and there, but it's sooo blurry it's hard to even make out even what's going on!!

I thought a game like PES3 would be less blurry compared to FPS games or racers, but guess I was wrong.

Why do TFT screens blur so badly?

YOu should also try to make sure any games are running at the native resolution of the TFT.

Otherwise things will look a little blurry.

The refresh rate of the TFT should be in the spec somewhere in the manual?

The blurring comes from the pixels changing colour.
The poorer your TFT the longer it takes for each pixel to change colour.

This is where the response ratings for TFT screens apply.
Higher response = faster changes = less blurring.

The older your tft, the ****tier it's going to be in fast scrolling scenarios.
The best TFT?s currently run at 12ms (Samsung) - 20ms (Hyundai).
These STILL have ghosting and won?t match CRT smoothness for a while.

Also make sure the game is running at the native resolution of your panel.
(1024x768 = XGA in your case). A scaled image introduces more latency and blurring.

Actually I found out it's a LCD screen.

I tried playing the same games on my other laptop which uses a TFT screen and almost perfect, no blur, sharp display.

Again I tried the same games on my new laptop (LCD) and quite a shocking difference

I have a TFT screen (Philips 170B4BS) that I'm really happy with. The thing is remember that on a CRT, lower resolutions will show with more black scanlines visible whereas on a TFT they'll be stretched to the panel size so might look a bit blurry.

LCD is TFT isn't it?. I'd suggest your new lappy has a poorer quality screen (response) and your old one is better. It does seem odd that your new machine is worse. TFT production generally improves by leaps and bounds every few months.
