360 Play & Charge kit red/green light charging issue?

So. had old official play n charge, it's started doing that thing where the red light turns to green straight off and the battery itself doesn't hold a charge but *sometimes* it charges for a bit. But then the charge lead twunted...so I got a GAME play n charge today, and the same issue seems to be with that, too, red then green almost from the off. Annoying. Am I missing summat stupid like only charging the pad when the machine is in standby or summat?

Tbh, they're MUCH better. Never had a problem with those, 8 of the strong Kodak batteries from Poundland and I was away for aaaaaages.

I've lost the AA battery bit, which I neglected to mention.

If you get that red/green cycle, then the batteries are drained too much to hold a proper charge, and you can either charge them 10-20 times in spurts to get them to stick, or just go back to normal batteries, which is what I've done as it was too much hassle otherwise.

There is an guide online about draining them with a paperclip, then resetting them with a paper clip then charging them. Worked for a while for me then back to normal (normal as in bad).

I've used that paper clip thing on normal AA rechargeable batteries that I had drained too far to charge up normally. Got a link to doing it on a play and charge battery? There are 6 contacts to choose from

Good luck, be interested to know if it works for you.

That's a little different from what I was expecting. The thing I've done is to literally get another battery and connect it to the other one in a loop. Like this (see "Reviving batteries that won't charge" half way down) :

I tried the thing on the page you linked (only once), but it didn't help.

I've always used 7 day shop 2900mAh AA rechargeables. They last for ages between charges and as I only charge them when flat they still work perfectly 3 + years later.

Always disconnect the battery pack from the controller in between uses. Minimises the drain on it whilst nor be use.
