dlink 504 router

does anyone know how i can open/forward port s on one of these. also how can i update the firmware. every time i try it says invalid version error.

the firmware i currently have is R1.14
router is version A2

Make sure you have the right revision firmware!

Forwarding ports... open the web admin thingy and click on configuration -> Port Redirection and fill in all the boxes and hit "apply"

[I have revision B btw so yours might be different]

when i got to port forwarding i get the following items to fill in

Internet Port
Local Port
Protocol TCP/UDP
Local Computer . . . (not sure what ip i should put here)

whenever i enter the details my connection to the net stops working. when i eventually get it back there has been no change to the port i tried to open.

the router freezes or you can't get websites any more?

That's defintely "ok"...

Have you tried downloading the firmware update utility for the router from ftp.dlink.co.uk

From the sound of it there's something wrong with your firmware if it locks up like that...

thanks for the ftp Valken managed to update the bios using it and port forwarding now works fine

Still haven't found any firmware that works on mine lol. Just says upload failed and downloaded some that came built in with updating utility and it just sait it couldn't update it from this to that.

have you tried the ftp above roost. i got errors when using the upgrade tool on the site but the one on the ftp worked fine.

Ummm the one above just redirects me www.dlink.co.uk

I've tried revision A and B firmware and neither worked. D Link said something bout sending me something that would fix the upload failed but never did.
