    Windows 10 Heads Up

    Current Status: Everything Working

Trashed video drivers, hsd to reinstall (no biggie I guess)
Audio not working. Downloaded from ASUS website and all working now

STALKER takes 5 minutes to load and randomly crashes. Fine before (turns out this is not a Win10 issue)
Portal Stories : Mel - Won't launch - Shut down Steam and restarted and it's working now.

New Edge browser won't work with UAC disabled.

I'll update this as I go along

I had to reinstall the drivers for my nvidia card, apart from that plain sailing so far. No problems with sound - it auto updated for Realtek.

Had been running the preview on a different machine (laptop), and had no worries for months, odd crash on shutdown....I'm sure there will be plenty of small woe tales to come.

OK, things are sorting themselves out actually. Stalker issue is a common problem form back in Windows 7. Randomly it will just start behaving like that so probablt not a Win10 problem. I had to set Steam to not run in Win7 compatibility mode and that's fixed everything so far. My audio is also Realtek. It decided that I ought to have side speakers but no rears! Anyway, got latest and that fixed it.

Installed on Surface 3 without any issues at all but I did so from a USB key and not through downloading through the direct update.

Have to say, its glorious on a tablet and the killer app is Xbox streaming. I played a bit of Forza Horizon 2 last night, in bed, with full party chat in effect. Its amazing.

I had a few minor bits of lag but nothing game breaking, this all running over AC WiFi.

The Windows 10 update trashed my MBR and left me with an unbootable system, after fixing that I had issues with the NVIDIA drivers too.

I can't get Freemake Video Converter to run anymore, it just crashes when you select a file format to convert to (could be a codec thing I suppose). It's not been updated in a while, so if anyone can recommend a different converter, I'll take a look.

Aside from those problems, everything else seems to be working fine. I would say the first thing you should do is turn off wifi password sharing and auto-connect to random public wifi networks, unless you're happy sharing all your stuff with everyone. Also, if you give your wifi key to someone and they haven't turned that off, it'll be shared with everyone they know and so it goes exponential. You can stop this by adding "_optout" to your SSID, I'd probably do that

I'm not sure if I'll go for it. I have an Acer Switch 10, which is a laptop/tablet hybrid (basically an Acer version of the Surface) and I don't know if the update will cripple it.

Win10 runs much better on my core2 Duo 2GB than Win7 did. Much. I'd say go for it. It is optimised for small memory devices. It even noticed all the hardware like the crystal eye webcam. Pretty impressive tbh.

It's partially because I have no problems with the existing setup, so do not yet have a reason to change.

One thing that would convince me is if a good browser is available for whatever it uses as the equivalent of Windows 8.1's Metro interface. For those not aware, the only browser for Metro Win8 is Internet Explorer; Firefox were going to make a version for Metro but gave up, because they didn't think enough people would use it to bother.

Finally got it all properly installed on my MBPR after general faffing around with windows update. Had to reinstall the drivers for my wifi, but we are ok now.

Gonna do a clean install shortly and switch my drive space to primarily Windows. Screw OSX, it's annoyed me for the final time.

I had a buttery smooth upgrade from win 7. Edge browser is very quick, and the xbox one integration and streaming is excellent. No driver issues with an on-board nvidia card.

The edge browser is amazingly fast on the surface I'm using. I'm also finding the main tablet interface is super quick and much better than 8.1 so definitely give it a go on your Acer device.

It actually makes 8.1 look awful in comparison yet it retains the best bits of that OS.

The edge browser on my desktop is laggy and locks up for brief periods.

It doesn't appear to be possible to edit the "All Apps" menu at all - the conversion to ten has destroyed my neat folder arranged apps in to one massive useless list

Have ended up replacing it with this: http://www.classicshell.net/

"A man woke up to his wife asking why his computer was showing off a slideshow of eye-wateringly hard porn, after he upgraded to Windows 10.

He claims he upgraded to Windows 10 late at night, then woke up to his wife goggling at a screensaver of distinctly fruity images.
Writing on Reddit under the username FalloutBoS, he said, ‘Woke up to wife asking why I set it to rotate all my porn images right on the desk top view.

‘I have no idea how to shut that feature off and that computer is staying shut down until I do.’

‘Don’t make my mistake, keep your private pictures out of My Pictures, no matter how deep you hide them in sub folders.’

By default, the new OS creates a screensaver using images in the computer’s Pictures folder.

Users wishing to – ahem – keep certain images private are advised to ensure they’re not in the Pictures folder."
