    Satellite Broadband.

Anybody know anything about this or have links? I've heard that a few companies can provide the service through the Sky TV dish. Any help/advice would be appreciated

BT have the service, I don't know if they can do it through the Sky dish, you might have to get a new one. Searching on www.bt.com is what I would do.

      www.ispreview.co.uk may have details

Clearly you're not thinking of taking a console online with this.

Aye, don't think about it for online gaming. You still need to have a dial-up account for uploads, working in tandem with the satellite which is download only. Unless you want to spend a fortune on an upstream service too.

I looked into this a while back being utterly sick of my puny 56k connection. It sounded a bit poo to be honest. One way, expensive (or it was when I was looking), unreliable and if you have a Sky dish you need planning to mount a second dish for this.

            I decided against.

And thankfully my exchange is going live with ADSL early next year. At which point I will be ceremonially taking a sledge hammer to my 56k modem.
