Ps3 and ps4 slow wi fi speeds

Lived in several places with different internet connections but Ps3 and Ps4 seem to have pretty lousy wi fi connection ....very limited range and poor speeds anyone else had this problem ?

Have to say Pc/x360/xone and wii u all seemed fine

I believe it's always been the case, they have poor wifi hardware maybe?

Using a cable fixes it immediately

Can't comment on PS3 and PS4 wifi, but my Xperia Z2 isn't as good with wi-fi as all 3DS models I have, where the 3DS still gets full connectivity, sometimes the phone drops it altogether.

I had Injustice on PS4 at 21 hours through WiFi, when I plugged it into the modem, it was done in minutes. PS3 has always been crap via WiFi. Go wired for all consoles.

Can't you get a compatible wifi adapter to improve things?

They're tremendously variable, also, your router model can affect things too.

If you buy a cable/broadband(i.e. not an ADSL) router you should be able to hook that up to your 4G one if it has a LAN socket. Then you can take advantage of the cable router's better wifi.

You can disable wi-fi on the 4G one(or leave it on, up to you) and just connect to the cable router instead.

I do that in my flat.

may as well bump this, waited all week to give my new PS4 a whirl... only game I have is DriveClub.... it needs a 12gb update, its saying 45 minutes

I have kick ass virginmedia 200mbps broadband so what's the score??

Should I be going to buy an ethernet cable tomorrow and going to a wired connection?

Shouldn't it be 9GB in 45 minutes at that speed? That's pretty fast non?
                    Kept you waiting, huh?

8 mins if I'm on the newsgroups

16.5mbps is my speed when I test the connection on the ps4.

I'm on the same service and I get the same sort of speed. It's not that much better when it's wired either. I think PS4 just sucks for intertronz.

So I may as well just save my money and put it towards the PS+ sub?

I just ran the test and I'm getting 30.0 Mbps down and 3.1 Mbps up on wired and 19.4 Mbps down and 5.1 Mbps up on 2G Wi-Fi. I haven't bothered setting it up to use the 5G service yet.

I didn't think you could connect to 5ghz? Mine only shows the 2ghz connection... I'll buy a cable tomorrow and see what I get.
