Taking PCs with you on a plane

I want to take a little Shuttle PC (in case) and 15" LCD monitor (boxed) to Spain on the 27th Jan.

Has anyone taken a PC on an aeroplane? Are you allowed (taken a laptop but the shuttle _looks_ like a bomb).

I'd ring the airline and check. In recent years (post September 11th) I've had problems with laptops (particularly on transatlantic flights) on both Virgin Atlantic and err, one of the others, can't remember which!

I was forced to put the laptop in the hold on one occasion and on another had to pull it apart to prove I didn't have anything sneakily hidden in a battery compartment or CD drive.

      arse.

I think that this means I'm going to have to buy an over-priced PC in Spain rather than a cheaper, better one here - arse again.

just take it in the hand luggage and cant they scan inside of it so that they can see theres nothing inside of it other than pc stuff. you could take off the case and show them the inside prehaps ?

          You'd think so wouldn't you....

Its definetly worth ringing before making any decisions - all the airlines have different policies.

And if its a question of price difference there's (presumably) nothing stopping you buying it here and it worse came to the worse shipping it over to your Spain address via courier.

I took my laptop on a long distance flight and used it with no problems , though I asked first to a crew member

It needs to get to Spain before three-wise men day (10th Jan?) and I don't don't trust Parcelforce with a PC, especially after seeing the state of some of the parcels that I get...

I'll be ringing Iberia today, will let you know.

                EDIT:

Rang Iberia and they say all is good, but you can never be completely sure that some busy-body at the airport isn't going to feck things up...

I hauled my desktop all the way to Canada once. Just put in in the original box and stick it under fragile. Should get there in one piece.

I'd carry on the TFT monitor though.
