Spam options

Over the last few days, one of my email accounts (pop3 type thingy) has seen a large jump in spam. Checking the controls on the account via the cpanel, the only spam filter in there is Apache spam assassin and it isn't doing the business. I changed the setting on it so it should be more aggressive but no noticeable effect so far. Anyone know if there is anything I can do about this myself or is it just a case of contacting my hosting company?

In plesk there is an auto ignore for various spam list IPs but that can end up rejecting legit emails. I think you just have to dealwithit

I've never been a big fan of dealwithit.

It's not guaranteed to work either. It's quite frustrating to setup and often fails.
