Bumper on my xbone controller has died - repair?

What are my options? You have to press it really hard for it to register. Is just dirt ingress? Can I clean it?
Will MS replace it? I've never had a button fail on a controller before (at least not since C64 days). All my N64 and DC pads still work fine.

I asked Xbox and they said it's 12 month warranty. It failed after 13 months (bought at www.shopto.net sept 2014! doh) Planned obsclessanceaccesssses?

Like I said to the xbox rep, I have N64, DC, PS2, Wii, Xbox, Xbox360 controllers and none of them have ever failed. The N64 sticks are a bit loose but everything works.

I'm still using my day one 360 pad.
Heck, I still have the little sticker on showing you to press the XBox button to turn it on!

Shopto have told me politely that they won't touch it.
I've mentioned the sale of goods act and that I'd expect it to last for longer. Will see what they say.
