    Console Colour Schemes

Toying with the idea of pimping one of my US SNES consoles up after seeing some beautiful examples online.

What paint is best to use?

Have any of you guys done this yourself?

    Let's see what you've got

Found these on DeviantArt, love this guys work!

Think Martin did a quick one over of his US SNES similar to the above.

This kind of modification isn't to my taste, though.

I've got a daily driver US console that does its job well, so it certainly does its function. It's a bit yellowed in parts, I think a colour scheme would be cool..

Yeah I think that's why Martin modded his this way.

Thing about the SNES though is that when the plastic yellows it also becomes brittle... Although I guess you might be able to address that with copious amounts of paint?

I think the Super Famicom I bought some months back is gradually turning yellow on my desk, or perhaps it is just the contrast between it and the mint condition pads that I bought separately... lol

I'm gonna sacrifice my gaming console, I think they look pretty snazzy. I just need a good scheme to go with.

I didn't know the plastic became brittle, I had it apart the other day to clean it out and look at my dodgy PSU.. Might be a job you could help me with before I take the plunge and get it caked in paint.. Apparently they use automotive paint, 2 pack is good stuff, probably doubles the weight

I've got a very tidy SFC and another nice US SNES so I'm happy to bastardise my daily driver

I'm done with owning multiples of consoles, I'll just have a daily driver that I'll abuse until it breaks now I think!

I've whittled my collection down to just SFC/SNES (OK 3 of them) & a MD... I got rid off the, Saturn, PCE & AES a while ago..

I know what you're saying about daily drivers though...

Next I'm planning to install a spdif board, and then get a device to mix it back to RCA to use with my amplifier.

                      Gonna be good!

You lost me at SPDIF will it enable you to run your SFC through the amp for audio output?

                          Yeah, with clean audio.

Basically with the modification the SNES will be able to output clean digital audio. Sadly my amplifier is really basic so I'd have to get an in-between device but anyone using a more well equipped amp should be laughing.

Sadly the mod requires an additional board which clocks in at around $25.

                              Nice info page here. http://retrorgb.com/snesdigitalaudio.html
