Dreamcast and Framemeister - no picture over RGB

I finally got my copy of Ghost Blade today, set everything up, fired up the Dreamcast, and...no picture. Only sound. For a brief moment I've got some video (the DC dashboard) but disappeared after a few seconds. The Dreamcast is connected to the FM via RGB and through a Joytech 965AV. Both FM and the switcher work, there are no problems with the SFC, Neo Geo, and PCE.

This is not the first time that the DC game me problems with the FM (or vice-versa), but I've already used the DC with this particular setup, so I don't know what could be wrong.

    Any ideas?

Faulty RGB lead? Faulty port in the joytech? Incorrect sync (FM)? Game not RGB compatable?

Can you test the Dreamcast scart cable on a screen with a scart socket? Then you'll know if it's the cable at fault.

Probably, no, tried everything without success, not even able to see the DC's menu

No, and I don't even have a S-Video or composite cable at hand.

That's a shame, because you could easily find out if it's the FM not liking the Dreamcast. My guess is it's the scart lead at fault, as I've used the FM with all sorts of consoles - even in 50hz - and it accepts them. I just wouldn't think the FM would reject an RGB image from the Dreamcast. I guess your only option now is to buy another Dreamcast scart cable and see if it works with the FM. A seller on Ebay has them for a tenner.

One thing is for sure, you wouldn't have this issue with a CRT.

Only thing I would assume is that the FM is being picky about sync. I'd suggest trying c-sync raw but you'd probably have to dissemble the console for that.

The Dreamcast needs to use a different sync setting than most consoles. My Dreamcast over RGB is the same. Sound but no picture. Knock the Framemister sync level down a few notches then it should work unless you do have a fault with your RGB cable.

Really? He should update it to the new firmware. It's really easy to do.

Manual sync levels should have been added in firmware 2.00, which I was running, but I upgraded to 2.00a while I was at it, and still no picture. Now it's either the DC or the cable

Now everything works. Things changed since yesterday: none. Maybe the date, it was the 1st of the month and the DC was on holiday. Weird.

Wow, very odd but I'd still say the DC may be a bit iffy. I have one DC that will not work at all with the VGA box while another will. It's as if there's something missing from the video signal on the dodgy Dreamcast.
