    Windows 10 remote desktop?

Following on from my hardware thread questions, I'm just wondering how this Windows 10 remote desktop thing works? If I have my fancy pants computer upstairs but need to be downstairs because my kids are killing each other, can I work downstairs on a laptop with Windows 10 but I'm actually working upstairs on my fancy pants computer?

That exactly what you can do.
You just need an RDP client or use mstsc on windows.

I use chrome remote desktop on my Android tablets to do the same thing, but being at school and running MatLab scripts on my W10 PC at home.

Windows has it built in, just look for Windows remote desktop. You just type in the name of the PC on your network you want to control and then enter the log in details for that PC

It does but I wouldn't open the RDP ports to the internet. If you can, install a VPN server on your router or NAS.
