Xbox Controller S - Replacing the analog sticks?

Anyone ever taken one of these original Xbox controllers apart? Or specifically replaced the analog thumbsticks?

I have a clear, modded Xbox that rarely gets used these days but upon setting up recently but I did notice one of the controllers the left thumbstick is more worn out than I would like, and rather than hit eBay to buy a replacement controller I thought it would be better to take it apart and replace the analog thumbsticks as otherwise the controller is fine.

If I search Amazon or eBay there are many different replacements for Xbox 360 PS3/4 or Xbox One controllers. Would it be safe to assume something like these below would just fit the Controller S?

I've tried a google search and looking at a few repair or mod videos on Youtube but can't find any specific answers.

I've just ordered some of those for my Xbox360 pad (and a tool to open it). If the tool fits my S-pad, I'll open it and take a look if you want. Will be a few days before the tool arrives though.

Actually your reply prompted me to open the Controller S up, as it only has six small phillips screws with a seventh hidden under the Microsoft sticker. Upon taking it apart I could easily get at the analog sticks and took the following photo:

So I just need to see if the 360, PS3/4, XBO controllers have the same sort of shape for the sticks to push onto.

EDIT - looks like they do. I've found some translucent green ones for ?3.50 (inc.postage) that I might order.

Yonks ago I fitted some thumbsticks from an Xbox S pad into a 360 pad - it was a straight swap, then tried a PS3 pad - this needed a bit of fiddling due to different height shafts that sticks fit onto.

I think quite a few fit XBO sticks to a PS4 pad - for the life of me I can't remember if previous gen ones fit this gen or not.

Ta again. I bought a couple of different colours for ?2 each (inc. postage) which happened to be listed for the Xbox 360 controller so should be good once they arrive. I've also found my second Controller S which someone gave to me years ago but happens to be in better shape than I remembered.

I opened my 360 pad, removed the thumbsticks and had a poke around. They no longer stick which is a win.
