AOL, they well fcuk you about.

I'm on a Dial Up AOL Managed to finally convince him to get braodband. He ordered AOL BB about a month ago, and i was like, Nooooooo! So he cancelled it. Phew.

So last night, we were ordering BT BB (Wahoo) But, there seems to be a problem. AOL seem to be giving us ADSL. Even though, we cancelled it.

Therefor, I can't get BT BB untill January, because AOL are fcukers, and didn't do anything about it.

I phoned BT, and I can only order BT BB, once AOL have chaised it up, and stop giving us ADSL. AOL said this would be 12 days, all because they couldn't be bothered to do it a month ago.

I'm going to have a go at them today, for being lazy, and saying how they should of acted earlier, wrecked my Xmas etc etc. Just wondering what kind of things I could say to them, to hopefully get them to do it within the next two days, so I can get BT BB before xmas. And play LIVE over the holidays.

Otherwise, I won't be able to play till January, then i've got bastard exams etc.

    I have great luck don't I!

If not getting Broadband is wrecking your christmas, something is seriously wrong with your lifestyle!

BTW, BT broadband (and yes, I speak from personal experience) is INCREDIBLY shoddy.

If something goes wrong, be prepared to spend 2 or 3 hours on hold in a queue for customer service.

When I ordered, it took a week of 2 hour on hold phone calls, and the thing still didnt work. Cancelled BT, they have finally taken it off my line, should have broadband from a PROPER provider at the end of the week/start of next week.

It's not really wrecking our Xmas. I'm just going to say it, to get them to hopefully pull their fingers out. Hopefully they'll stop giving me the ADSL line, and we can get BT before xmas.

We shouldn't have to wait for this though, they should of done this weeks ago.

What proper provider are you going with? I want to use it for Xbox live you see too.

Well, its not only BT that can handle Xbox live. I guess they have signed some sort of deal so that when people think of Xbox live, they think of BT broadband because of all the advertising.

Im going through my neighbour actually, who is a reseller for NetKonect (i think thats the way you spell it). ?21.99 a month, i just pay for the router. Im mainly going for this because ive experienced it first hand and its very very fast, and also he deals with the customer service, so if anything goes wrong all I have to do is pop next door. Its not a crappy USB modem/router thing that BT give you with the so called "gamers package" (which is awful).

I doubt very much though that you will get it sorted before christmas. AOL have to go through BT to get it taken off the line etc, then BT have to get themselves sorted and put it all through etc. Will take more than a week, especially with this being such a busy time for everyone!

I'd have thought your chances of getting BT to install broadband for you now, before Christmas, is slim at best.

I guess it depends on whether you're on about BT Broadband, or BT Openworld, as they are separate companies.

I've just got ADSL with Pipex, who offer free connection/ migration, and 512k/s line for ?23 a month. They also offer other little goodies like local rate helpline numbers, a nice 50mb personal webspace, and very good online help/ support.

007, life has something against you it would seem. Maybe this is how Blofeld is exacting his revenge?

I find that KirbysJoyRide who lurks on the forum and IRC is better than any technical support you could get from these companies...

The name AOL kinda gives it away AOL= A**holes On-Line.

On another though I also suggest Pipex as my mate has many disconnection problems on BT broadband and he has just been fobbed off by BT. Example, they rushed to get him off the free helpline and told him to use the paid one for further help ft:

I have Pipex and I have had no such problems.

                      AOL stands for 'America OnLine'.

So you're right. It's absolute crap.

Now now, if it wasn't for Americans... 1. you wouldn't have the internet. 2. we'd be speaking German

By the way, nice one Shimmy, I'm leaving BT as soon as I can stomach the 10 days downtime, and I won't leave any of you behind, I promise!

Thing is, I've been on AOL BB for the year so far without a single major problem. A few minor ones caused by BT's crap phone lines, but nothing to do with the ISP. Strange huh? AOL actually doing something right...
