    Broadcast monitors

I have decided that this is the year i pick one of these up. I am looking for a 14" pvm (i doubt my rack would hold the 14" bvm as it looks like a monster). Loads out there - whats the best? Any other good brands, other than the sony?

I assume i am looking with rgb/component bnc inputs and a higher amount of tv lines 600? For the best quality? Any tips on what to look for, besides screen burn in etc - i dont think the pvms display useage hours?

    Cheers in advance

Buddy can you ever get down to Basildon??

You can have my one if you want it?

I did a thread offering it up for free here but no one took it.
If you just fancy one before you track down a proper one then it should be ok.

Here's the thread for pics (I warn you now though it is pretty tatty round the casing)

Friendly Import video game discussion forum, informative reviews, NTSC (Japan / US) and PAL - BordersDown (previously known as NTSC-uk)

I think a "BVM" is around 1000TVL and a "HR" Trinitron is 600 or 800TVL. I've got a 20-M4E which has a lush image. The 14 inch version of this would be the 14-M4E. That aside I would try and find a 14L4.

Thanks for that; missed out on a really nice 14" with part rack, to some sniping git last week. Will keep looking

I've owned Sony, JVC and Ikegami broadcast monitors over the last few years. All of them were a big improvement from a CRT TV. And I had a proprerly calibrated high end CRT TV.
At present I have a BVM 20F1E on it's side for tate games and a PVM 20L4 for normal stuff. I also still have a JVC broadcast monitor which has a lovely picture too. Which is free to a good home if anyone wants it.
I ultimately stuck with the Sony screens as I have the auto setup probe for them which adjusts the colour so it is accurate. IMHO the BVM is arguably a bit too sharp with it's 1000 TVL resolution. The PVM would probably be my choice if I had to pick one with the JVC a close second.
The Ikegami I had was quite old and required tinkering with pots to adjust things which seems archaic compared to the newer OSD screens. Still had a cracking picture though. I would imagine a newer Ikegami would be great for retro gaming.
