N64's and memory cards

hi, i got a N64 at the weekend and today i got a memory card off my mate.
but i need to know how to find out whats on the card allready and how to delete it thanks

i think you just hold down 'start' when the game is loading up..

Only replace it with official memory cards. The 3rd party ones all corrupt the data eventually (probably exagerated).

thanks charlesr, it is an official mem card but a bit of the chip things has broke, but my mate is going to swap it for a new one
