I take it a UK logitech GT force feedback wheel will work with a japanese ps2 and initial d?

Don't know if your interested but the new version of the Logitech wheel was released on Friday (19/12/03) in the UK.

It's the GT4 wheel. Comes with nifty little gearstick on the side and full 900degree wheel turn for GT4. Great thing is it cleverly locks in a fallback mode for standard GT3 etc.

If you've not got a standard Logitech, then it's definately worth a look. Cost ?100 but that's not too bad - import ones are quite a bit more!

The UK spec one works fine on my US PS2 setup.

Gearstick on the side? Really? Which side?

You never know, they might do a right-hand-drive version for the UK. I'm not getting my hopes up, though.

            CAUTION

Initial D is a tricky one. Both the Logitech GT Force and the newer Driving Force wheels support it BUT The newer driving force wheels will not let you shift gear with the paddles behind the wheel. You have to use the d-pad instead. Personally I couldn't get along with this.

            You have been warned

The stick is on the right side mate. I got the UK spec one so I really don't suspect it's going to change anytime soon!

So is the new GT4 wheel actually any good?

Was tempted by one over Boxing Day (?100) but have a normal GT Force one already.

Does the extra wheel lock travel add much to games?

We won't know until more games support it I guess.

If you look at the Logitech compatibility list, only GT4 makes use of the 900 degree full lock business.

                          Oh right.

I do have the GT Prologue version but I guess I'd better wait for the Full release before committing.

Yes, the GT Pro wheel is ?100 at HMV as mentioned.

Cheers for the heads up Kub. I just phoned up Currys and they are selling them for ?39.99. I presume these are the force feedback 2 models.

For anyone who is after a logitech wheel, this seems a great price. Ill be getting on on Tuesday hopefully.

Yeah, it should be exactly like the Initial D wheel once it's out the box.
The ones I seen had "discontinued stock" stickers on them. Looks like they're trying to clear them out for this new ?100 wheel to take their place
