Will a stepdown that works fine with a gamecube work with...

    a japanse PS2?

Gonna order a nice white jap PS2 from play-asia.com in a couple of days but I need to know if I need to get my hands on a new stepdown. It worked well with my jap/us gamecube. Got a bit hot though efter playing for some hours. I don't have the converter at this place so I can't check up voltage, power.and hz for the stepdown. It looks like a cute little Ps2
The second question.....Is it normal for consoles to get damaged in the shipping process...just being a bit worried since I've never imported a console before

One suggestion m8, if you want to avoid customs and get free shipping, use yesasia rather than playasia. For games they are fantastic, but when shipping anything of value Ive always been stung with customs, and shipping costs, hence my yesasia recomendation.

As far as damage during shipping goes, Ive never had any bad experiences in the past. Generally, the protective packaging in the consoles box does the trick, and the extra protection in the outer shipping box generally makes shipping trouble free.

Enjoy the white ps2 though. Its lovely!

Yes, they do. I use the same stepdown for my Jap PS2 as for my USA GameCube.

why not get the asian version of the white gt 4 pack. it uses 240v power and can run jap games without a mod

its on yesasia with out the vat and import duty

            Thanks

Any differences between a jap and an asian PS2? besides from the voltage? But...we have 220 V in Sweden...and that one is for 240...will it still work?

I think it should be fine as most things will work between 220-240 Volts in Europe, but don't blame me if I am incorrect

I used a stepdown transformer and it should be fine for PS2, but not XBOX. Now I replace it for a powerful step down transformer and use it for both XBOX and GC and leave other free to charge up GBA SP when I need them.
