    Monitor dead?

Ok, i feel like a real tard but i think ive blown my monitor...or done something equally scientific sounding to it.

Brought me cpu back from uni so i could do some work at home. Unplugged the monitor from the home machine and stuck it in. Worked fine. Had to plug it back into the home machine again and now whenever the computer is switched on the monitor makes real loud snap crackle and pop noises with no picture.

Do you think its dead? i do.

(going back to 14 measly inches sucks)

you stuck your monitor into your CPU? If you brought your CPU home, why didn't you put that in the motherboard of your home machine? Don't really understand exactly what you've done there.

Anyway.....Sounds like it's dead. If it's doing what you say and there's no picture, and you think it's dead, then it probably is. Turn everything off, leave it for a while. Then return, and check everything you possibly can.

Anything else you can connect to it? Dreamcast VGA adaptor? Different PC? If you've got a picture using a different monitor but the same machine, which would rule out a graphics card problem, then yes, sorry mate, maybe you can pick something up in the sales.

ok, sorry mate. Maybe I just know teh r3/\1 g33?<5 who do stupid things like take CPUs home with them.

No idea whether it's a good deal or not but www.microbits.co.uk has a deal for an 18 inch Iiyama if you're interested.

That's strange, I had an old screen from 1997 that I plugged in about 7 months ago, which made a loud pop noise. It went off, so I turned it back on and ever since it never showed much video, everything was just squashed into an unreadable horizontal band in the middle of the screen.

So no, I don't know how to fix that, sorry!
