Gameboy Player / PSX pad adaptor problem

Gah. Having just purchased a Gameboy Player, I am annoyed to find that my PSX pad adaptor won't function at all with the Player. This is the adaptor I have -

Anybody else experienced this? I can't imagine there being a solution to this, so I guess I'll have to get a Hori pad rather than suffer the GC analog stick. As Nintendo seem to be able to lock out such adaptors at will, I wonder which GC games will also disable them. Unless the disabling is in the Player itself.

tbh I quite like the GC stick with the GBP!

I know this doesn't solve your problem, but if you haven't tried your GBP with the offical GC pad, maybe give it a go - you might be suprised

The GC pad works a lot better than I imagined it would, agreed. I'd still prefer a digital pad though. Anybody know the cheapest place to purchase a Hori pad? Alternatively, has anybody managed to get a different PSX adaptor to work with the GB Player?
