    Ipod European Volume Limit

Hey there, my friend got an Ipod and we were wondering how exactly you work around the 100db limit. Any sites I've looked at have involved using a Mac OS X machine, which we don't have access to, or simply the freeware tools that work around the problem rather than fixing it.

Does anyone know if we'd be able to remove it using a PC?

When you use Itunes and goto the MP3's details you can slide its volume to 100% effectivly doubling the volume of the song. I have a US Ipod so dont have this problem, but in doing the above it becomes almost too loud to bear. Not sure if that helps you out or not.

Doesn't downloading the US Firmware from the Apple website and applying that to the iPod, thereby blowing away the European version and the limit, work anymore?

No guarentee that this won't ruin your life or insult your loved ones, so you undertake this at your own risk.

(Shouldn't be a problem, but CMA just in case.)

Just select all of your tracks in Windows iTunes, go into the track info and put up the slider 100% it will make the tracks very very loud.

This does indeed work, but you have to reset the location of the Mac to US before you attempt to upload the new firmware.
