    Gamecube USB memory card

    Hey folks...

Got me one of these today from Play-Asia and I can't get the bloody thing to work at all. Thing is, it did work for all of ten minutes and now it doesn't -- I took a save off the card, thought "Hey, that's pretty cool" in a geek fashion and then nothing. It doesn't "know" about the card being present and Windows 2k insists the device is a normal USB device, and fails to work saying it doesn't have the necessary function to ID itself. I forced the install of the correct driver (e.g. clicked have disk, pointed Windows at the .inf file that comes with the thing) and it still doesn't work.

    b0rked?

Maybe you can only have it plugged in alongside a certain amount of USB things at a time. My Net MD can only cope with 2 other USB things plugged in at the same time otherwise it doesn't like it.

It's the only thing plugged in, but it is worth noting. Haven't had the same trouble since though so I reckon it is either one of a flaky USB port or just the excellent reliability of USB

Order a multi-port hub at any rate, so I don't have to swop stuff over -- only one USB port see, PC is a bit "aged" to say the least and I couldn't care less

What's it for CM? For grabbing save files from the internet? Or uploading them? Replays? In short...What can you do with it?

            Cheers

Do you have a link to this item? I can't find it on the Play-Asia site. Does it let you copy saves that are normally protected (like Animal Crossing files)?

If you look real hard, you'll see an answer to the questions you seek Yes mate, it does all of that. Basically, you link it up to your PC and up/download files to the card. If you're downloading, the files are saved to the harddisk and then you can do with them as you please I posted a ghost in the 1080 thread, someone else can download it and check it out by uploading it to their USB card.

So far, I've just backed up a bunch of other stuff* to the harddisk; things like F-Zero ghosts, replays and stuff because I was running out of cards and thought it'd be a good option.

This is what I bought: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-26-70-1yg-4-7.html. Decent price if you ask me. Still haven't had anymore problems with it either I guess it is just a simple USB adaptor to the embedded SD card, which is universal 'cos I know the SD adaptor isn't </geek comment>

                * except for files I can't copy to the USB card you can download these saves though, as long as you save to the USB card originally, you're set. yes, that means animal crossing towns too

I've had one for a while and found it to be quite inconsistent with its performance but you can upgrade the program from here which I suggest doing as it does improve its performance.

Heres another useful site. It has the biggest library of saved games on the net, but its Italian I think so its in quite broken english.
