Panasonic Q - fixing a failed PAL mod

How easy is it to fix a failed PAL(for DVD's) chip on a Panasonic Q?

If it's a relatively easy job, anyone know where I could get it done?

I think Saurian is the one to ask, again.

It depends what needs fixing really.

The Q DVD mod has two stages:

      a) multi-region firmware update

      b) video ram upgrade

it sounds from what you've typed as if something has gone wrong with the ram upgrade. That would be tough to fix, the ram chips are smt and hard to get hold of.

how did you end up with a duff mod?

It's not actually mine. I'm looking to buy one and someone PM'd me about theirs but it has a failed PAL mod.

He has said that the RAM upgrade is OK but that the firmware update has gone back to the original factory settings.

I was kinda hoping that if it was an easy job I could maybe buy it and get it sorted, if I didn't have any luck getting a new one(looking unlikely)

dunno what could be causing the firmware update to fail, its a weird one. I think it would take a bit of prior knowledge to fix.

www.videogameimports.com sell modded Qs, maybe you could ask them?

Its actually my Q lol, ive been told by dvdchips that what has happened is the original person who modded the machine reprogrammed a chip on the panasonic Q board. Rather than soldering a new chip in. And whats happened is the chip on the board has gone back to factory settings, but still plays all other region dvds.
