Aha... That's what Saurion meant with "the jumpers are RIGHT next to eachother - why people feel the need to connect to alternate points is beyond me". 8)

    What's the difference between R5 and R6??
...can I simply pick one? Or should I just stick to R6?

It doesnt matter which R points you use - depending on the region, one set will be free just use whichever set is free.

For the n-th time: Thanks for the info!

All I need to do is wait for the Gamebit and start remodding it.
I promise: I'll keep you posted on the results!

Any idea if you need to prepare the points in anyway, do yo have to remove any enamel off them like you have to on the xbox?

Or just solder straight to them?

Yeah you just solder straight onto them

Strip a small amount off the end of the Kynar (1mm is cool)
Tin this bare end with solder
With a clean (thin) soldering iron tip with a small amount of solder - just touch the kynar to the point - It'll take perfectly. It's easier to hold the wire in place with tweezers and work towards you - the way I do it is:

Board right way up, facing left (so the AV ports are on my left)
Get a length of wire longer than needed and fold it in the middle so it's a loop.
Strip and tin the 2 ends you need to use
Holding with tweezers in place on the point I first solder the jumper point furthest from me, then the nearest.
Guide the wire round to the side of the digital port and secure with a bit of tape.
Put heatsink back on and replace board/fan and drive, you'll see there is empty space just behind the rear vent - this is perfect to take up the slack of the wire which will connect to the switch.
Attach wires to the switch (I use one glued to the inside of the rear vent - 3rd vent in from the digital port side) I also use heatshrink on the 2 switch connections.
              The rest is just assembly.

You can get it from Maplin too - this should be fine:

                    Small update:
The Gamebit has finally shipped out from "Lik-Sang Europe".
For some reason the money transfer took days...
With a high dose of luck, I'll have the Gamebit tomorrow (since they ship out from Germany, which happens to neighbour the Netherlands).

Though it is most likely that I'll get it on monday... 'cause that's my kind of luck.
Though soon, soon I'll fix my Gamecube!
And since my Gamecube is being disassembled, I'm thinking of replacing the power-LED. Though, would BLUE look good on a purple cube?

Yeah they look lush with the purple - I put one in my platinum machine, the black machine with the blue LED looks heavy too! The points the LED connect to come off easily - dont use a de-solder pump, use braid instead.

                        I'm gonna try mine tonight.

Have you got a part no for some suitable leds?

Is where I get all my stuff from - you need a 3mm LED for the Cube, alternatively Maplin part number would be:

                          JA22Y = 3mm clear blue LED

Edit: use JA28F instead (lower voltage)

Well... one more day of waiting and I get my long awaited Gamebit.
And then my remodding quest begins.

My local electronics store only sells 5mm LEDs (well... they do sel 3mm but simply never have them when I'm there).
Question is: Can I use a 5mm LED in a Gamecube? (Is it at all possible?)

BTW, is it possible to hook up one of my PC's "Lazer LEDs" (which require 12v)??
That was just a general question... 'cuz I just like light-mods.
