    Edit: *sorry double post*

Gamecube is for kids and has no good games, only ones for "nancy boys"
LOL - is that seriously what ya friend is like?

Jokes aside man - you really should find out what the problem is before you start taking things apart. Is it a drive error? not reading disks? - the best solution for that would be to buy a new laser mech from a company like psxsrepair. No power? if that is the case you will need to repair or replace the PSU. Normally when one of these units go it's the capacitors that need replacing.

I thought the best (read: cheapest ) solution for this was to change the voltage going to the CD and DVD reading lasers.

MY PS2 packed in last weekend, just wouldn't boot any discs at all and kept throwing up Disc Read Errors. However, I opened it up found the two screws that cotnrol voltage to the lasers and with a bit of work got it working perfectly again.

Thanks for the tips - the disc drive being erratic and not reading any DVD movies, certain games and temprimentally reading others.

Next time he has it round I'll pull out the rubber feet, it looked to me like they wouldn't come out.

And yup - that is what my friend is like

He doesn't play his PS2 much so I'll just try the screw thing Are they easily accessible, like on the top layer when you open the console?
