Forcing 50Hz on a PAL Xbox

    Hi all,

Just bought a PAL Xbox and was wondering if there was a way to focing the machine into 50Hz mode at game boot up, but leave the actual Dashboard menu set to 60Hz?

I want to play pretty much all games at 60Hz but Halo (by all accounts) is better in 50Hz. I don't want to keep going into the menu and changing the options.

Failing that, is it possible to force the Dashboard when there is a disk in?

    Thanks for any help.

You can, I've got my pal copy of halo running at 50hz even when the dashboards set to 60hz, its a bit of a mission though.
If your xbox is chipped extract the default.xbe from the halo disk and open it with a hex editor and search for this : 8B45FCC1E81083E05F and change it to 8B45FCC1E81083E01F this will force 50hz even if the dashboards set to 60hz, I did this ages ago for my copy I think thats right but I did it ages ago so I'm not 100% sure, try if you have halo ripped to your harddrive, don't bother if your going to extract the file and then burn it back onto a dvd as its not worth the effort as I'm not 100% sure it will work.

Thanks. I don't have my Xbox chipped at the moment, but I'll take a note of your suggestion for future reference
