    SFC

Guys, do you know how to run SFC (system file checker) without windows prompting you for the CDRom? Ive lent mine out ages ago and never gotten it back is why I ask. I cant find a way round it, it seems kinda crazy that it asks this as think about how many users must have pre-installed PCs with Xp!

A possible problem maybe the windows install source path.
You could try to copy the i386 directory from another xp disk and use regedit to change the source path.

    It is located:

    HKLM\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Set up

I changed the source path and Installations source to be my d: drive (as i'd installed it across a network) and it worked with no problems.

As with any Registry change procede with caution.

Sounds like Mark has lent out his oem cd to someone, i dont think he would have any problem obtaining another XP cd to try this with.

It needs the one which I installed WindowsXP with, I tried some alternate discs, none of which worked.
