    Samba de Amigo

Was this ever an arcade? Even in Japan? My other half asked me this and I wasn't sure. I know a lot of Konami's efforts were there first before being in the home, but I don't think Sega's effort was. Confirmation?

Samba de Amigo and 2000 were both available in the arcade on Naomi hardware.

Saw it in the London arcades several times as well as some in Hong Kong.

Was in the arcades before the home versions.

I've never seen it in London - which arcades had it?

There is a picture of the arcade machine here:

Samba De Amigo is a Videogame by Sega (circa 2000). A musical game from Sega. You use the maraca controllers and shake them in the correct position on the screen to advance to the next level.

        and here:

2K was a conversion kit for the original game.

I also have a book called 'Tokyo Sculpture' which is full of pictures of recent Japanese arcade machines, including Samba de Amigo. Its a fantastic book, actually.

Heh knew I should have checked KLOV before asking

Interesting... I was out and about in arcades in London around that time and never saw it either, so I'd be interested to know also where it was...

Yeah, I've been in London since 1999, and I never saw it. I'll be well annoyed if anywhere actually had it and I never played it. I did buy the DC version as soon as it came out though

Definite I saw it in arcades over here and the only ones I go to are in London.

Troc or the old Windmill St Namco must have had it.

(I could be wrong about it being London - but my memory is not THAT bad surely!?)

EDIT: the only other arcade it could have been was the one in the old Yaohan Plaza in Colindale.

The Troc had the original version absolutely ages ago, but it's long gone. It was Japanese.

When did Troc have it? I can't believe I missed that

                    gutted.

Last time I saw it was Sept 2000 -- went there and played it just before the Sega show during ECTS that year. It was in the Circus/happy happy fun LSD trip land area (as I like to call it).

Hmm, I would have been in around that time, guess I couldn't have gone to the highest floors.

Went there recently, they've closed off the top couple of floors now. It is a shadow of a shadow of it's former self.

They still have the G-Loc R-360 though

I know... which is why I took my other half to see it when she was over before Xmas. Demonstrate that there's still one working somewhere in the world

Wonder how much it would be worth now?
