You can’t play a 60fps game on a 144Hz display and expect any kind of advantage, because the monitor will drop to 60Hz to facilitate the content it’s being fed.
Haha it's a great point! I think I've got myself in a mix after reading posts about Street Fighting on 144Hz monitors, but that is a PC thang. Unless Street Fighter 6 has 120hz support on PS5 (which I doubt?), then yeah maybe you're right. However, my current display doesn't have new age features such as HDR or VRR or Spadoinkanoids (I made the last one up).
    Hmm.

Mine don't, either. Well, one's a G-Sync and the other's Freesync. So VRR is covered at least. That's very handy for fluctuating framerates on stuff like Cyberpunk and Skyrim Steds Edition, but I'm not sure how much a console or Steam Deck is going to make use of it.

To be honest I'd hold on a bit. There's no way Capcom are going to push SF beyond 60FPS this early (even though they probably can, and definitely should). Even the PC version will be capped so as to not give any platform superiority. Technically they can lock the input/gameplay at 60FPS and let the PC run away with the framerate, but they wouldn't dare even try that, I'd imagine.

Just watched some vids of SF6 again. There shouldn't really be any excuse for that not to run at 120FPS on the PS5 and XSX. What a shame, that'd make for a proper next-gen SF!

Playing Overwatch on the XBox One is painful compared to playing it on my Series X on my high refresh rate LG TV or PC on Asus high refresh rate monitor at 165fps. It's probably the only thing keeping me competitive against the ten year olds

Nice. So what FPS is that hitting with Overwatch on Series X?

No idea! There's a framerate option vs visuals in the menu

I checked the LG game overlay and it says 120fps. I guess the xbox locks it there because the TV supports a bit more.

                Yep. 120fps.

If you primarily play a lot of games that can do 120fps it's well worth upgrading your display.

Here's an article with a list of games for both consoles: https://www.techradar.com/news/ps5-a...120fps-support

In the end, I picked up this 4K/60hz monitor for £239 (since gone up in price). I really like it. Apart from when I go back into none HDR games where it all looks over saturated. Using it on my PS5 and everything looks lovely colourful, bright and detailed. Will revert back to perf mode though. FAIL
