    N64 hdmi cable

Has anyone tried a cable to do N64 to hdmi?
Also maybe an issue, my N64 is modded and the cable has a booster that matches so no idea if the internal mod will mess up the hdmi cable.

There are basically two main options that I would look into.

Lower cost/good results = OSSC (Open Source Scan Converter)

      Higher cost/best results = Retrotink 5X Pro

The latter is much better at handling games above 240p resolution and games that use frequent resolution switching (resolution switching has a delay on the OSSC where a black screen is shown for a few seconds as the res changes).

I don't really know much about the N64 as I've never owned one but I would research how well each of these works with a 64, and maybe someone else on here can add more detail.

Both of these devices accept RGB SCART input (think the Retrotink needs an adapter though) so I don't think your booster mod should matter. But don't quote me on that as I'm no expert, just guessing.

or you could get the N64 digital mod.

The PixelFX one is the one you really want. Digital mods will give a sharper image than an upscaler but you're losing out when it comes to versatility.

I looked up ossc on ebay. Now very confused. Are they all legit? Is around £70 the right amount?

              Thanks.
Putting aside that it also does component and vga, will it be any better than something like this £10 scart to hdmi? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...3YG3NGA7&psc=1 Or will I have issues like 4:3 vs 16:9....

For the dreamcast and Xbox360, I already have a cheapy vga to hdmi convertor cable and it's really good (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

The component aspect of the ossc is appealing for the OG Xbox though and just having one thing to rule them all.

The OSSC will hands-down be better than a 10 quid scart to Hdmi. That said, it needs some fiddling with and I think it's not the most user-friendly device

Yeah I have an OSSC and can recommend it as reasonably priced upgrade. With Dreamcast snd 360 I would imagine they scale better and/or need no scaling due to the higher resolutions. It’s the 240p and other lower resolutions that OSSC specialises in. Strictly, it’s not a scaler, what it does is to make low res images more compatible and responsive on LCDs etc. The difficulty with it is mainly that it’s not plug and play - you need to build (or download) profiles and you have to switch between these on a game by game basis; or for those games with multiple resolutions (e.g. Dino Crisis), actually manually switch in-game. Having said that it’s only really necessary to switch profiles if you're a bit anal. Even on default settings it’s significantly better than plugging scart into an LCD.

For anyone that's interested, the £10 scart to hdmi was composite only. The picture quality was good for composite, but build quality was shoddy and the connection was dodgy as hell and kept dropping out every few seconds. Basically £10 straight in the bin. I errored so you don't have to....

I've got a component to hdmi converter which looks much better quality but haven't tried it yet and I've got a scart to component box kicking around from the dark ages somewhere. Should have gone with an OSSC, but I'm only £20 down so far.
