    LogiTech GC Wheel Death

So yeah, there I was minding my own business, when my GC wheel decided to die, specifically on BurnOut 2 or maybe R:RE where the left brake digital click decided to stick, which is fine in R:RE but not in BurnOut as you kinda can't accelerate, it also make Mario Kart tricky as youa re in a perminent slide. So what to do? Well I took the bitch apart didn't I!

After unscrewing the thousanth screw it seemed the main wheel variable resistor thing was dislodge slightly, after a bit of sweat I managed to restore the L click and the wheel, reconstructed it, but now it don't work still. The L trigger or the click seem to be still a bit mangeled, anyone got any ideas what I could check, its like its not calibrating properly.

I know this wont help much but hell.....

You should have taken it back to the shop before taking it apart.

Take it back anyway. It's pretty new isn't? And they'll never notice that you've had it apart.

Sorry I can`t help either, but I was wondering what Burnout was like with the wheel? I`ve been after a copy for ages and just wondered if its worth getting, I`ve aleady got the xbox version.

We used to get this problem all the time at work with the arcade machines. Exactly the same fault you have, the VR is either dislodged or the grub screw has loosened so it just slips. All the assemblies were the same as what you've described and after fixing any of these faults the calibration had to be set again. It might be a complete bitch for you to do cos these machines had specific calibration setting options in their test menus - dunno how you can do that with a controller like this.

Only thing I can think of is use a game's calibration options while you have the thing apart to find out where the rest positions/center of each bit should be - so it's all centered correctly when you re-assemble

Dunno what else to try man soz about that.

I bought four Logitech wheels for BO2 on GC (well two plus two spare) and I don't like it too much.

You don't get that ultra-quick steering you get with the pad and hitting turbo is a pain as you have to hold A with your thumb and it's a bit ****e.

Only played for about an hour so far and I am getting slightly more used to it, but it's not for me. Although it does cut out the sweat layer between thumb and stick.

Thanks for that superkully, I won`t try too hard to get a copy of BO2 then. I`m playing F-zero with it just now and I`m enjoying it but finding it quite difficult.
