found sega master system proto cart, any idea on value?

    picked this up for 25p!

obviously the cart labels have a bit of wear, it's from 1989 though :S

oddly it weighs a ton, at least four times as much as a standard MS cart.

EDIT: didnt see the 3rd pic, sorry. Original message below in quote.

The chips in the photo arent too clear, do they say EEPROM on them?
If they do, then probably yes its a proto.

Sorry for the confusion, should have waited for that 3rd pic to load.

As for value? Who knows, youd want a more dedicated retro site, with a larger community of people into the master system.

hmm, might be a promo cart, for journos, stores or display pieces such as trade shows.

Easiest way to guarantee its prototype is check inside, if the game is on eeprom chips, you can be 90% certain its a prototype from during production.

Beware, if its on eeprom, the memory will eventually erase itself, and youll have a blank cart.

My gut reaction? Not a proto, but I dont know master sytem, Im more a NES/Famicom man myself. The sample thing doesnt make sense, if it were a proto, surely only in house people would have access, so sample wouldnt be needed. But hey, Im not in the industry, and master system isnt my fortay.

As for value if it is a proto?

If it were an unreleased game, then it would be priceless, literally funny money.
Since its not, who knows, NES proto's have gone for triple figures before. I wouldnt want to say anything for definite... Who knows, its worth as much as someone will want to pay for it.

    Goodluck with it dude!
    EDIT2:
the sticky label says rambo in Katakana if anyones interested

      thanks buddy.

i don't know if they are EEPROM's or not, i'm absolutely useless at identyfying cart components. I can't see any writing on them to indicate though.
