Modifying MP3 volumes and system sounds in WMP

Is there any way to alter the volume of an individual MP3, either in Windows Media 9 or with an external program? Is WMP good for MP3 playback or are there better options?

Also, how do I switch of those damn system sounds in Windows 98SE? Y'know, those clicks and stuff when you click on a link in IE?

When you add music to WMP there is an option to "Add volume leveling values for all files (slow)" This actually does it every file you add to WMP so that all the files will be the same volume. I don't know one that can just do single mp3 files.

As for WMP being a good music player I think its by far the best one, but iTunes is another popular choice around here. Depends how you like the layout of your music. You probably already know the layout to WMP. iTunes however has 3 lists of Genre, Artist and Album then the corresponding songs below when you select an genre, artist or album.

To switch off those sounds you need to head into "Start>Settings>Control Panel". Then you want to select "Sounds" I think and then you will see a big list of actions and every action with a sound symbol beside it will play a tune. You just have to scroll through and find the sounds you want rid of.

I have a great player, called Media Player Classic.

It came with the codec pack I have got (ace mega codecs) and it is brilliant, with any feature you would want.

      'specially good for those movies

Winamp all the way for media playback, but it is dependant on what you're used to. MP Classic is good thou.

This is exactly what I want, but unfortunately it's not availible in Windows 98SE. Is there an outside tool that allows you to do this?

Also, I want to burn the MP3's to a CD for stereo playback. What should I use to convert the files to be playable?
