    Virus fixed. Thankyou

Its sending out loads of e-mails every couple of minutes with the virus attatched!

Various mails I'm getting back (from people with anti-virus protection) give the name as either:

    W32/Lentin.E
    W32.Yaha.F
    W32.Yaha.E

PC Pitstop Identifys it as W32/Lentin.E but doesn't offer to fix it

Wheres the best free virus killer/anti-virus? I need this done quick.

    Any help, very much appreciated.

Ive heard that the virus checker at http://www.grisoft.com is good and free.

To be honest though you'd be best off buying norton. The latest version is only around ?40 or you may be able to pick up an old version for less.

I agree, best to buy a commercial virus checker so that you can clean your laptop of viruses before going back online and sending out more...

Norton and McAfee are both decent and cost about ?30 each.

Thanks, that seems to have sorted the e-mail virus...

...Only now ALL my Program Files are locked and I get the following pop up when trying to open ANYTHING

"Cannot find the file C:\'insert name/file here'(or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."

Followed by another pop up window saying:

        "Unable to runn this command"

I can access folders such as My Computer and although my link on the taskbar to Internet Explorer was broke the desktop one wasn't, hence being able to get online.

All program files were fine before installing AVG Anti-Virus, but I can't uninstall as that link is broke too

Any ideas? I know this isn't a PC help forum but I've nowhere else to turn...

Yeah, AVG anti-virus from grisoft moves infected files into another folder if it can't fix them which is what's probably happened to you.
If they're system files the only way around it is to reinstall and start from scratch which sounds like a good option for you anyway.

                Thanks for the help

Spent today Formatting harddrive and then installing Windows XP and Norton ANTI-VIRUS.

So Everything is all new and virus free

                Lesson learnt.

Though I've a weird problem with @ being 'SHIFT' + 2 instead of the @ button A few others are like this too.

I think you have got the keyboard set as the US default. Change to the UK keyboard option.

That sounds right but where do I change this?

Tried: Control Panel>Keyboard but no luck as no option

Just realised your using XP. I'm on good old 98. Thats probably why your not getting the Language option when you click on Keyboard.
