VGA JPN GC problem

I've just got my VGA/Progressive scan lead thing from Golden Shop.

And i was wondering for it too work on my monitor is there any requirments for it too work...considering i'm getting a blank screen on my monitor.I've tried holding down the B button but with no luck.

My monitor is 1024 X 768 [whatver the stantard size is] any more questions i'm willing to help.

Thats a really weird resolution. Is is an lcd monitor? Does it support 640x480 @ 60Hz (vga)?

The method is, stick game in machine, power up, hold B for 30 secs or so until the 'Do you want to enable prog scan?' question is asked, hit left or right or up or down, then press A.

The question differs slightly for each game, some its left or right, others its up or down. If you're not sure, leave the digital AV cable connected with the GameCube also connected to your TV using the analog AV cable. It will now let you boot in prog scan mode, so you can see which way to move in order to select yes.

From that, you should be able to work out how to enable prog scan, and how long to wait. Be aware though, the GameCube remembers if it was last booted in prog scan, so some games then highlight yes for the prog scan question, and don't require you to hold down B to ask that question.

You just need to play around with it.

The game i'm using at the moment is F Zero GX JPN version.I have Biohazard1/0,Zelda and Mario Sunshine as well to choose from

I also have a Freeloader with Metriod Prime.

I've only used F Zero so far.

Well,i plug my analog AV in to the speakers and i get sound..which is good.I held down the B button for a while and i heard a menu pop up,Iv'e selected different opinions.Then i heard the title music play etc BUT i still have no picture!

So what can i do now..? BTW my monitor is a HP Pavilion F50'S if that helps.

I've got a picture now thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But everything seems alittle white and bright....turning the contrast/colour doesn't do much but i can change my RGB signal maybe...what colours should go up and down ???

Right, so thats a 1024x768 flast screen lcd monitor. It should be able to do a vga resolution of 640x480, but may not look very nice scaled up to 1024x768.

doesn't it have a brightness control? If you can alter RGB values, turn them all down uniformly.

Thought I would bump this becuase I have a problem with my VGA cable.

I am fine with my TFT at home, however I also want to use it with a CRT monitor, however the VGA cable of the monitor is attached to the monitor and cannot be removed.

Therefore I presume I need a female->female adapter to plug the VGA cable into it?

If so, does anyone know where I can get one?

er... its normal for vga cables to sometimes be attached to a crt monitor.

A monitor's vga cable connector is a 15 pin hd d type plug.

So... normally the GameCube vga cables are made with a 15 pin socket attached. Which means you shouldn't really have a problem.

Either you have a weird vga cable, or a weird monitor.

Does your GameCube vga cable have a 15 pin plug instead of a socket?

If so, the easiest solution would be to rewire it with a socket, and use the vga -> pc cable when connecting it to the TFT.

I am sorry I dont know the technical terms for the plug, but here is the cable:

It seems to be the only place to get them now. Anyhow the connection on the end is the same as the end of the VGA cable on a normal monitor.

On my TFT I have a male male VGA cable which I use to plug the monitor into the PC, so I can just d/c this and plug the GC VGA cable directly into the female socket on the monitor.

However on my CRT I cannot detach the cable, and thus I cannot seem to plug the GC VGA cable in.

I hope that made sense!

Thats pretty weird. Normally GameCube vga cables have a vga socket on the end, not a plug, so they can work with monitors that have an attached cable.

As you said in the first place, you'll need a female to female 'gender changer' adaptor.
