No picture on US SNES

I recently purchased a US SNES. It came with a 3rd party scart cable but upon testing I dont get any picture, only sound. I am almost sure my TV supports ntsc as well as 60Hz. Anyone know what the problem is (it could be that my TV does not support NTSC signal but its a relatively new TV so I would guess it does)?

If it did support 60hz but not NTSC, you'd get a black&white picture. No picture either means the lead is wired wrong, or you've got the wrong setup for the Scart port in question.
