    PS2 Pad Convertor Probs

I bought the PS2 to USB controller convertor from play.com and it doesn't bloody work. I ran the setup.exe from the cd first and it installed some files to windows/system32.

Then it didnt ask me to restart which it says it should on the box so i did it anyway, and then once it had restarted i plugged it in and i just get told a usb device connected to this computer has malfunctioned and windows can't recognise it.

Anything obvious or is it just broke?

I'm on Windows XP and i've tried it on my pci usb 2 hub and on the motherboards usb 2 sockets.

Does it need service pack 1 installing ?

The PS2>PC controller thing from play sucks monkey butt! I would just send it back and buy a proper PC pad for you games.

It only works on some games, other games just refuse to load when its plugged in, and the analog buttons and sticks don't work properly in any game I have used it with. It just basically sucks big time. Get your money back and save up for a proper PC controller.

Exactly the same problem roost with my one from play. What you have to do is keep unpluging/pluging back in till it recognises it correctly. But i tried all of my usb ports and seem to have better luck with the one at the front and tents to find it on startup most times with that one (don`t know why). My mate has one and has no probs with it though but he hasn`t installed the usb 2.0 drivers on his yet cause he`s lacking sp1 might be something to do with the usb 2.0? As for it not working with any games, i haven`t really had a problem with it except for EA games which give varying results. Games i`ve tried and worked fine on are halo, broken sword sleeping dragon, crazy taxi, vice city upto yet.

I got one of the rascals from PLAY.com before Christmas and it works absolutely fine 90% of the time.
I had no problems installing the SW or detecting the device when plugged in.
Sure, some games dont recognise it properly.
Perhaps the most welcome app which does recognise it 100% is EPSXE. I've been playing RR4 on hi-res with a dualshock for days now.

                Snes9Xw performs 100%
                MOTOGP2 is a joy with a dualshock.
                World of Outlaws works 100%
Nascar Heat and Nascar Thunder 100%
AVP 2 does not recognise the dualshock at all.
Hidden and Dangerous Deluxe does not recognise the dualshock at all, but then it doesn't support joysticks!

                Running Windows 2000 BTW.

I'll try as many games as I can find and post which work or not soon-ish.

If you guys don't want your PLAY.com adaptors I'll have one for my son's PC if you please.

It picks it up and recognises its there, it just says it's an unknown device. I've ran the setup.exe so many times it's untrue, the box says something about it asking you to restart, which it has never done.

Might well be the same one but GAME do one too, my mates got it and says it works fine. Pro Evo on pc with pad is apparently awesome.
