Dreamweaver Template Advice

Hi All,

I have a Dreamweaver Template that I have downloaded from the net. How do I go about installing it into the dreamweaver software. It is more than one folder so I can't just dump it in the templates folder of DW.

The folder layout is like this...

12 (main folder name after unzip)

in the "12" folder there are 7 files, two of which are .css five are html. Then there are 3 more folders called

Templates (folder)
Images (Folder)
PSD (folder)

In Templates there is another folder called Templates with nothing in and a dreamweaver icon called dreamtemplate12.dwt

In the images folder there is 9 .gifs

In the PSD folder there is one file called template.psd

Hope that is all the info someone will need to help me!

What I want to do is be able to use it as a template and edit it.

right, create a new site, selecting the unzipped 12 folder as the root of the site.

the file in the Templates folder called a .dwt is the template layout, go to File > New and select Template, select the template from the site you've created and hit New. (can't remember the exact words etc right now and can't be arsed firing DW up!)

This should create an Untitled.htm file for you to edit. add some content and save the file with the name of index.htm or whatever. There are areas you can't edit and change, these are locked by the template.

create more pages for your site this way, until you have enough.

Only edit the .dwt page in the Templates folder if you intend to change part of the layout that exists in every other page, navigation links for example.

May i ask where you downloaded it from, most templates ive seen have been poo.
