I am in the middle of downloading this demo. 24% I think last time I looked. Will be finishing it off at a mates house with broadband this afternoon.

I should be able to run it at full settings. I will check everything and post back with specs and resolutions later.

I though this looked an excellent game from the preview video I saw. Hopefully it will be as good as I hoped.

I finished the download at like 5 in the morning and today I finally got to play it.

Full settings at 1600*1200*32 with no anti-alasing runs perfectly. Looks quality too.

I have not had much chance to play it yet but from what I have done its pretty damn hard.

This is probably the best FPS I have played in years, proper level design, great AI good graphics. Certainly fill the hole until we see HL2.

              Very impressive.

Only managed to play the final sections of the demo but it was extremely enjoyable. I love the helecopters, very well done. My PC wouldn't have a chance at running this sadly, so my only hope is for an Xbox port.

Finished this yesterday also and i must say im very impressed. As has been said great level design, great AI, some good humour (anyone found 'Redneck' magazine yet?) and and an excellent atmosphere.
My only complaint would be that in one or two places the Ai may have been too clever. Resulting an excellent firefight but a complete lack of enemies to dodge and thwart for the next few minutes since they all died in their eagerness.

I love Uni. And Star Downloader. And Blue Yonder Games.

Ergo, I had to download the thing four times, and I still won't know if it has worked till I get back home. On the other hand, the total time for all four downloads was about an hour and a half. I was getting over 1Mb a second.

                    Not that impressed so far.

Everything looks too cluttered, too gaudy. The AI is more funny than good ....... enemies shoot each other and run about like headless chickens. Some hit boxes are very dodgy aswell, bushes have stopped bullets in mid air - sometimes when the bullets are missing them by a clear foot.

While the size of the island is certainly impressive I felt a little cheated by the way you're herded in the further you progress ........... untill it's standard corridor stuff (It's no Flashpoint or BF 1942 in terms of scale)

Not that it's a bad game, I just don't think it's particularly good (a million miles from Golden Eye or Half life). The guns are nice and meaty and enemies react when shot (something very rare in pc games :/) Water looks great and the vehicles are fun

I think most ppl like FarCry cause it's the only game out there that stretches their new hardware ....... as a techdemo/sandbox it's great fun. But the game is a 6/10 if ever I saw one

(I find that even when the game is running at 60 fps it still looks very jerky .... any suggestions?)

Having finally played the demo at length, I can finally say all that download time was well worth it. It plays like a Moodmon tailored version of something like Rainbow Six. Yes, you can sneak, and you can't take many bullets, but when you need to let rip...

Shame the start is far too difficult. It took me many goes to get past the first lot of guards (I killed the one with the semi-auto gun first). But then, you could try stealing the boat, getting in the jeep...

The recon system does work extermely well. I love spying in on people, and the threat indicator below the radar makes it a doddle. Looking forward to the full game now...

Swim you bastard! Swim! Dive down deep and infiltrate into another part of the jungle. Avoid the beach totally. Just get out of the boat when the guy mentions helicopters and you'll be fine. Or turn backwards when you start the game. And infiltrate that way. Just watch out for certain things.

I'll be adding some more as I can be bothered to take them.

I'm still downloading the demo, but how exactly did you take those screenshots? Just plain old 'Printscreen'? Or is there some good freeware-thingy you're using for it?

                          Thanks

Hmm graphics are a mixed bag imo, check this out if you want REAL graphics ( I cant help but feel that Farcry is a bit Cartoony graphics, if you understand )

I played the demo, I don't like the way in the distance the graphics blur... ehm let me elaborate, the water, seems to go blurry, maybe its my graphics card. Also I agree with the guy who said the AI is dodgy, shooting through boxes and stuff, because I was getting owned before I had hardly moved.

I can see this game improving by the March release date, but if the demo is anything to go by it is fairly disappointing.

                            (cant wait for Stalker btw)

press f12 for screeshots, they appear in the farcry directory in jpeg format.

It's set on a tropical island, what did you expect? At least it looks different. So called "gritty Realism" is all very well and good, but eventually it gets boring if done too many times.

And this just proves my point in the first post.
