Star Soldier is entirely in English, menu's wise (with the exception of if you open the disc cover, but that isn't too hard to work out what it's trying to tell you ). Working out the in game buttons isn't difficult at all either.

PC Genjin is all in Japanese. However, it's as hard as:
      1st option= Main game
      2nd option= Unlockable stuff
      3rd option= Options
Gameplay wise is very easy to work out too.

Kero Kero King is Japanese again.
      Again it's self expanatory though
      1st option= Main game
      2nd game= VS Mode
      3rd option= Options
After that there is a tutorial that is in Japanese, however all the actions are shown with a big on screen pad so you know what to press that does what. You will also catch on very quickly what earns you points, etc.

WE6 is entirely in JPN and can be a nightmare. However, if you have ever played PAL PS2 Pro Evo 2 all the menus are the exact same as the PS2 version. I found it easy enough having played that game to death.

TBH the main problem is the issue of getting an initial save file on your game. Most games ask you to create a file when you 1st load the game so I just guess an option and when it's past that menu turn the machine off and check the memory card screen to see if a save file exists. If it doesn't try again, this time selecting the other option

Other than that make sure you don't mix up your USA and your JPN memory cards as there are lots of stories of people accidently formatting their cards and losing the data. What I have found is most games are managable with trial and error. Also looking in the First Play folder frequently has people posting the kind of thing I have done for those JPN games above so it's rare you will be totally stuck. Gamefaqs can be useful too for this sort of thing as well.

Oh and stay away from RPG's. Impossible.

is that super adventure island what was on the snes? if it is i love that game so thats on my list.

        also a snes style pad

Kero Kero King- sounds very interesting will keep a look out for this one
PC Genjin- was this released in the uk on any console first time around? if it was what was the name? just seen it was bonk outside of japan, is that the one where he headbutted people?
        thanks

just one more question does that warpipe thing work properly yet?
Pc Genjin translates as PC Kid in English but was known as Bonks adventure in the states. Was originally the mascot of sorts of NEC's wonderful PC Engine (Turbografix in the states).

It was never released in Europe as the PC Engine never made it here (although I think it may have been converted to the PC, memory is a little hazy here).

The original game was a wonderful platformer - far better then super adventure island for example. The update looks a little like Yoshi's Island graphically - I'm waiting for my copy to turn up from the rage at the moment but I'm tres excited. Pc Kid was a great game!

thanks for that bowser, i will be mainly getting US games, i think the only jananese games i will get are the ones that won't come out in the states.
or if i go through a phase of loving the boxes to much then i might just buy a few then.

and thanks dreamylittledream i might try it on an emu firts just to see what it's like. but if it is better than super adventure island then it should be good .

can anyone reccomend some more ntsc-j only games.
i'm not so keen of fighing games though.

          thanks

It did get a limited release as BC Kid on the Amiga (the PC/BC pun obviously meaningless when not on a PC Engine). It was also released on the GameBoy under that name.

Thinking about it, those might have been US imports, but I think they were European releases (otherwise, why rename Bonk?).
