How do you alter the stiffness of a DC Arcade stick?

I know everyone waxes lyrical about how good the stick is, but the the joystick is far too stiff for my liking. I'm sure I read a post about someone loosening it up? but a search has proved fruitless

Any info/help/links would be very appreciated

Yeah man it's easy -

Take off the e clip that holds the stick together from the reverse side. Remove all the bits till you get to the spring, now cut that spring down a little bit so it doesnt sit so tightly.

Would that work, but in reverse, with a stick that is far too loose? I have a PS2 stick that I really like, but there is far too much movement from one direction to the next (is that known as travel?) It makes it impossible to do some of the really complex commands on Evo

Would I be able to open it up and put larger springs in to make it tighter?

Even easier - just get to the spring and pull it apart so that you stretch it a bit longer, that's enough to increase the tension.

D'oh There's me thinking of any complex way I can find to improve my stick...and all I'd have to do stretch the spring

Ta for the reply mate, will give it a try later. I had a little fiddle in there yesterday, is the e clip the bit near the bottom of the metal shaft? If so, it seems an absolute bastard to get off

Yep thats the one!

It's a bastard first time you try it but once you get used to taking them off it gets easy - get a really small flat screwdriver to fit into the little groove.

I did it earlier today, it was an absolute f**ker to get off

Then I loosened it up far too much, dragons seemed impossible but 360s and 720s were flying out of nowhere with Zangief-thankfully I stretched the remaining peice of spring out and its ok now!!
