Quick Advice Needed

I have a v4 PS2 and I know that most installers don't mod this version due to laser problems. The console never had problems reading CDs or DVDs so I would like to know what are my best options.

1. Spend 70? (?48.4243) in a Matrix MXL2 mod and trust luck;

2. Buy another PAL PS2 to mod or buy a modded one;

3. Keep the current PS2 and buy a second hand US PS2;

4. Other;

keep it, if you have some pal games for it and get a import one as the exchange rates are good at the moment
