GameCube Modded RGB Scart Cable query

I have been given the above cable from a friend , which he used for his US N64 to play on his TV (which was Pal only).

Having tried this cable on my unmodded US Gamecube, I found the picture pretty lacklustre. Although the cable works fine, the colours are dull and there is some crosshatching (moire?) effect on the screen. The cross hatching is particularly noticeable on a black background.

I usually use an s-video cable on my GC (I have an NTSC compatible TV), which is pretty good but really thought a RGB cable would be better.

Is this a problem with the cable? Or is it because it was made for the N64?

If it is the cable, I was looking at buying a modded cable, does anybody know the best place to get one? Saurian?

    Cheers

I'm not sure I understand what cable you are using - a Gamecube modded RGB cable is this one here:

It wouldnt work on an N64 as the Gamecube's RGB signal comes off the digital port not the AV out.

Yes, surely if this cable worked on both an N64 and a US GC, it must be giving a composite image from the GC?

Bloody hell, stupid me, you guys are totally correct, it is just from the AV out port.

I believe your the man, Saurian, to make me up a cable. Are you interested? And if so, how much?

        Thanks again both of you.

I'll be able to order some more cables in next week - shall I send a PM once I know when they are coming in?
