    'Region-freeing' a PAL Sega Saturn

Um, yeah. Is this possible with a boot disk, or is a mod-chip needed?

    Cheers in advance,

    Boot Disc = No.

A bit of soldering to the motherboard = Yes = multi region switching.

Mod Chip = To play Pirates.

you can get those carts that give u multiregionalisation too, like action replay 4-in-1 carts they are called or something. you still need a switch for 50/60hz though really.

Saurian does this sort of thing, he did mine anyway, ace bloke.

        Very, very simple mod
I modded mine to JPN only a few weeks back and its extremely simple,I'd only recommend getting someone else to do it for you if you're not confident cutting the case to fit switches

I've done a bit of chipping before (good ol' PSX 8 wire), and I've got a soldering iron, so any chance of a link to a good guide to doing the wiring?

          Regards,

D a search on goole for "sega saturn mod 50/60hz" and it will bring a few up.

The info is also on www.gamesx.com

I always put the switches on the battery cover as if you mess that up you can easily get a knackered saturn and put a new cover on.

A mod chip will let you play original imports as well as cdrs'

EDIT = Oops, I didn't read the title, I thought it was DCs' that was being disscussed

it wont, it will only let you play copies, it wont even let you play copies from a different region to the console

You can convert the images using SCDConv though, but really it's more hassle than it's worth

exactly, and you will be chuffed to bits when you out the switches in yourself
