Best Way To Play Import PS1 Games

This is getting ridiculous, and I'm getting desperate. What is the best way of playing my US copies of Chrono Cross and Xenogears? I have a modded PS2, but it is a flip-top one, and I'm not laying out any more cash on it.

Do I get a cheap NTSC PS1, or a chipped one? And were would I get these things from? I'm getting fed up of trying to find someway to play them.

A boot disc is a no-no, as these a multi-disc games, and I'm not going to solder the chips on myself. I am not going to use an emulator. Help!

You seem to want as little hassle as possible, so getting either a US PS1 or PS2 seems to be your best option.

Maybe a 2nd hand chipped unit is the best option? Ask in the wanted folder

download epsx. works fine on most games if you have the right plugins.

a chipped pal ps1 or us ps1 would probably be cheapest.

You should be able to get a 2nd hand chipped psone for ?30-40.

Thats how much I sold mine for on here a few months back.

Or you could buy a a PAL PSX for next to nothing and get the PSX-Exchange boot disc (which works with all imports). But it's probably the better option to get a chipped machine to save the hassle of exchanging discs every time.

Using boot discs won't matter for Xenogears, it does a save at the disc change that you can load into a boot of disc 2 (much like the PSX Final Fantasies). Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to Chrono Cross.

You're best just picking up a cheap NTSC PSX, or a chipped PAL one. Should be easy finding those on eBay.

The thing is only a handful of RPG's wont allow you to save at the end of disks. Chrono Cross and Lunar are the only two that spring to mind. If you can live without playing those two (I know that I could) just get a standard boot disk. There's a wealth of other RPG's out there that are far more deserving of your time and money.

Having already bought Chrono Cross, the boot disc is a no-no.
