Is it worth getting if i'm only playing on my own or is it geared completely towards the 4P multiplayer?

I've read previews only, with Nintendo Official Magazine, and frankly they put me off buying the game. I was really looking forward to it beforehand.
If you're expecting a tense, gripping, exciting storyline, forget it. It's a hack-and-slash 'em up that is geared towards multiplay, with GBA connectivity.
You'll probably enjoy it on Single-Player, if you don't mind losing the storyline. I don't know about characters - they probably don't have much to do with it either. I mean, who bothers thinking about the characters or story in Unreal Tournament or Quake III Arena?
