How to tune a D.C laser??

G/F's Dreamcats was working fine one minute. Now it is very flakey as to if it will reads discs. Happened instantly, hasn't started getting worse over time like I'd expect. Anyone know what value the laser should read and where the adjustment pot is? Thanks.
