    Recommend me a traditional TV

I need a new TV. It can't be too big as I need to lug it back and forth between university and home so I'd say 21" max. I'd like it to have a flat screen and it must do stereo sound.

Does anyone know of anything decent that matches this criteria?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Just bought me a Toshiba 21N21B last week, 21", well-built and ?139.99. It's not flat screen, but I don't care. The image is good and it takes RGB, NTSC 4.x and 3.x through the SCART at the back _and_ it has an AV connecter and headphone jack at the front .

How are your financial priorities? If you don't want to spend too much money then I'd say just go for a 17"-21" basic Nicam job. But if you're feeling flush, a 17" LCD is far, far more portable than any CRT could be, and if you're carting stuff around a lot thats a definite bonus.

Bought a Sony 21" Trinitron CRT 4:3 last year, cost ?300 from Curreys (blagged a decent SCART lead with it).

          - AV & Head phone jack at front
          - Sleep Timer
          - NTSC
          - RGB (one just one of the SCARTs)
          - Nicam stereo (goes loud without any ****ty distortion)
          - Flat screen
          - Fast Text

The set is very good picture wise and build, problem is there's only two SCART sockets and only one is RGB - otherwise a good buy, if a bit pricey.

Can't find it on Sony's website for you, but I've seen it's still in the shops.

Thanks for all your input so far.

I've done a little bit of research and come up with a few possibilities

First of all is the Toshiba 21S23 at a cost of ?150

            + NTSC compatible
            + 2 Scart sockets
            + NICAM stereo
+ can be switched to a 16:9 aspect ratio
            - not a face flat screen

Next up is the Toshiba 21V33 at a cost of ?200

            + Face flat screen
            + 2 Scart sockets
            + NICAM Stereo
            - doesn't say anywhere that it does NTSC. Worryingly not even on Toshiba's own website
            - can't be switched to a 16:9 aspect ratio
            - unable to find much information about it

Next is the Sony KV-21CT1 at a cost of ?190

            + Face flat screen
+ can be switched to a 16:9 aspect ratio
            + looks good
            + NTSC compatible
            - Mono sound
            - only once scart socket

Finally the Samsung CZ218AUN at a cost of ?150

            + Face flat screen
            + NICAM stereo
            - only one scart socket
            - can't be switched to a 16:9 aspect ratio
            - only Argos sell it
            - doesn't say anywhere whether it will do NTSC. Argos usually state this so I guess it doesn't do it

I'm going to pop into town later this week to have a look at the 21S23, the Sony and the Samsung. Unfortunatley no high street retailers seem to stock the 21V33.

If there are any other TV's you'd recommend please say so. I don't particuarly want to pay more than ?200 as all I want is a TV to last me the remaining year and a half of university. After that I'll probably get something a bit good (provided I get a good job that is )[/img]
